SCOTTISH BUDGERIGAR SOCIETY

(FOUNDED 1937)

HISTORY OF THE SBS

The SBS was formed in 1937, the original name proposed was " The Glasgow & District Budgerigar Society", then, Sam Ward from Glasgow created a stir by suggesting an amendment to the name and proposed the society be called. "The Scottish Budgerigar Society".

There were hesitant murmurs from a few members, but, in the end Sam Ward's amendment was carried and the society as we know it came into being. In those days the chairman was Mr W. Hamilton.

Later that year the SBS affiliated to the Budgerigar Society and the rest as they say "is history"!
